iPhone vs Samsung vs Pixel for Business (2026)

iPhone vs Samsung vs Pixel for business: security update periods, Apple Business and Knox management, Enterprise Edition, eSIM and price points compared.

Title card: iPhone vs Samsung vs Pixel for business, a 2026 UK comparison

Most UK businesses choosing a standard staff phone end up comparing three platforms: Apple's iPhone, Samsung's Galaxy range and Google's Pixel. All three make capable phones. For a business, the differences that matter are how long each brand supports its phones, how easily you can enrol and manage them, what business editions exist and how far your budget stretches across each range.

This comparison sticks to published manufacturer commitments as of October 2026. Prices are launch prices or store prices and are indicative only. For model-by-model picks, see our guide to the best business mobile phones for 2026.

The short answer

  • iPhone suits teams already using Apple devices that want simple, consistent setup. Apple Business is free in the UK, and every current iPhone has a published minimum of five years' security support from its first UK supply date.
  • Samsung Galaxy suits businesses that want choice: the widest spread of price points, rugged XCover models and Enterprise Edition versions with a three-year warranty. Support periods vary by model, so check each one.
  • Google Pixel suits businesses that want a clean version of Android with seven years of updates across the whole range, including the cheaper Pixel 10a.

Whichever you choose, enrol every phone in device management and check its support end date before you buy.

Security updates: how long each brand supports phones

Apple, Samsung and Google compared for business: security support (Apple minimum five years from first UK supply, Samsung S26 to February 2033 and A57 to March 2032, Google seven years), free enrolment tools (Apple Business, Knox Suite Base Plan, Android zero-touch), business editions and entry launch prices
What each platform commits to, October 2026. Sources: Apple UK PSTI statements, Samsung UK product pages, Google Pixel update policy. Table: Omega IT.

Security updates are the lifecycle fact that matters most. The UK's Product Security and Telecommunications Infrastructure (PSTI) regime requires manufacturers to publish a minimum security update period, and the regulations say it cannot be shortened once published. Cyber Essentials v3.3 requires software on in-scope phones to be supported, with high-risk and critical fixes installed within 14 days. Each brand states its commitment differently.

Apple

Apple publishes a UK PSTI statement for each iPhone, each promising a "Minimum 5 Years from the first supply date". The dates are 19 September 2025 for the iPhone 17 and Air, 11 March 2026 for the iPhone 17e, 18 September 2026 for the 18 Pro and Pro Max, and 23 October 2026 for the Duo. Apple gives no calendar end date and does not say how many iOS upgrades a model will get. On our calculation, an iPhone 17e is covered until at least March 2031.

Samsung

Samsung extended its security support to "up to 7 years" in January 2024, and the "up to" matters. Its UK product pages show a model-specific "Security Update Period (Valid until)" date: 28 February 2033 for the Galaxy S26 series, 30 September 2033 for the S26 FE, 31 July 2033 for the Z Fold8 and Flip8 family, and 31 March 2032 for the Galaxy A57 and A37, which get six years rather than seven. Some Samsung pages also carry a generic "7 years" footer, even on six-year models, so always use the model's own date. Samsung's UK business page also says security update "cadence and timelines may not be committed" for its A2x and A1x models in Europe, so the cheapest Galaxy phones carry the most caveats.

Google

Every current Pixel gets "seven years of OS, security and Pixel Drop updates", but the clock starts when the model first went on sale on the US Google Store, not at UK launch: August 2026 for the Pixel 11 family, March 2026 for the Pixel 10a and August 2025 for the Pixel 10, 10 Pro and 10 Pro XL. On our calculation, a Pixel 11 is covered to around August 2033.

Our guide to business phone security update periods shows how to turn these commitments into a replacement plan.

Managing the fleet: Apple Business, Knox and Android Enterprise

Whatever the platform, company phones should be enrolled in mobile device management (MDM) from the day they are unboxed. That is what lets you enforce a passcode, keep work data separate and lock or wipe a phone that goes missing, as our guide to a lost or stolen business mobile explains.

Apple Business

Apple Business replaced Apple Business Manager, Apple Business Essentials and Apple Business Connect, and has been free in the UK since 14 April 2026. It includes built-in MDM, "Blueprints" for configuring staff groups, settings and apps, and Managed Apple Accounts that can link to identity providers including Microsoft Entra ID. Zero-touch deployment is only available for devices bought through Apple or an Apple Authorised Reseller, and automated enrolment is designed for new or erased devices and is not supported on devices more than seven years after their introduction. Personally owned iPhones use a separate method, Account-driven User Enrollment.

Samsung Knox

Samsung's Knox Suite Base Plan is included with Galaxy device purchases at no additional cost and covers Knox Mobile Enrolment and Knox Platform for Enterprise. Paid Essentials and Enterprise plans add tools such as Knox Manage and Knox Remote Support; ask your supplier for current pricing.

Android Enterprise and Pixel

Pixels, like other Android phones, are managed through Android Enterprise, and Android's zero-touch enrolment is the counterpart to Apple's automated setup. Google also runs an Android Enterprise Recommended (AER) programme, but we could not confirm any current Pixel's status in Google's own directory, so ask a supplier to show it rather than assume.

Microsoft Intune

If you use Microsoft 365, Intune can manage supported iPhones and Android Enterprise phones side by side, and Microsoft 365 Business Premium includes Intune Plan 1. Our Intune guide explains the setup.

Business editions and warranties

Samsung sells Enterprise Edition versions of selected phones; we found no equivalent business edition from Apple or Google. Samsung's Enterprise Edition includes:

  • a three-year warranty and a next-business-day replacement service;
  • up to seven years of firmware updates, monthly or quarterly;
  • a one-year renewable Knox Suite licence.

Enterprise Editions are available for models including the Galaxy S26 Ultra, A57 and A37, with the 128GB A57 and A37 Enterprise Editions launched at £489 and £409 (Samsung's RRPs, indicative). Check the update period for the exact model: Samsung's UK launch release says the A57 Enterprise Edition gets seven years, but a Samsung Switzerland business list shows six.

On the Apple side, AppleCare+ for Business is a paid add-on through Apple Business. Google's business case rests on its seven-year update policy rather than a separate edition.

Range and price points

Samsung covers the most price points, from budget A-series to rugged and foldable models. Apple and Google have narrower ranges and no rugged phone.

BrandLowest-priced current model (indicative)Highest-priced current model (indicative)Rugged option
AppleiPhone 17e, £599 launch priceiPhone Duo, from £1,999 launch priceNone
SamsungGalaxy A17, £199 RRPGalaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, from £1,899 RRPGalaxy XCover7 Pro and XCover7
GooglePixel 10a, £499 launch price (press-reported)Pixel 11 Pro Fold, from £1,799 launch price (press-reported)None

In between, the mainstream models launched at £799 for the iPhone 17 (Apple's launch price), £879 for the Galaxy S26 (Samsung's RRP) and £879 for the Pixel 11 (press-reported launch price), all indicative.

Prices move. Apple's UK store listed the iPhone 17e, 17 and Air from £699, £899 and £1,099 on 27 October 2026, above their launch prices (store prices, indicative). Press reports in October 2026 say Samsung has raised UK Galaxy S26 prices. The Pixel 10a launched at £499 but the Google Store UK listed it from £599 on 27 October 2026 (store price, indicative).

SIM and eSIM differences

  • iPhone: the UK iPhone Air and iPhone Duo are eSIM-only. Other current UK iPhones take a nano-SIM and an eSIM, but US versions of the iPhone 17, 17e and 18 Pro models are eSIM-only, so check where imported stock came from.
  • Samsung: the S26 series, S26 FE, A57 and A37 take two physical SIMs, a SIM plus an eSIM, or two eSIMs. The Z Fold8 and Flip8 take one SIM plus an eSIM, or two eSIMs. The A27 and A17 have no eSIM.
  • Pixel: every current model takes one nano-SIM plus an eSIM.

EE, Vodafone, Three and O2 all offer eSIM to business customers. Apple's automated enrolment can install an eSIM during setup where the network supports it, and Intune can activate eSIM plans remotely on supported iPhones and Android Enterprise phones. Our eSIM for business guide covers the practicalities, including SIM-swap fraud.

Apps, Microsoft 365 and mixed fleets

For most businesses, apps do not decide the platform. Every Microsoft 365 business plan includes mobile versions of the apps, and Business Standard and Premium licences cover installs on up to five mobile devices per user.

Mixed fleets are common and workable: iPhones for office staff and rugged Galaxy XCover phones for field teams, for example. The key is one management approach. Intune can apply matching rules to both platforms, such as a PIN of at least six characters and a lock-out after no more than 10 failed attempts, both options Cyber Essentials sets out for phones. Cyber Essentials also covers personal phones that access work email or data, so settle your bring-your-own-device (BYOD) policy at the same time. For phones, its malware control is met through application allow-listing, meaning only approved, code-signed apps can run; device management is the practical way to enforce that on either platform. Our Microsoft 365 services page covers the wider setup.

Which platform suits your business

Which platform fits: iPhone if your team already uses Apple devices and you want simple zero-touch setup; Samsung Galaxy if you need many price points, rugged models or Enterprise Edition; Pixel if you want seven years of updates on a clean Android; in every case enrol phones in device management and check the support end date
A starting point, not a rule: mixed fleets are common. Diagram: Omega IT.
  • Choose iPhone if your staff already use Macs or iPads, you want zero-touch setup through Apple Business, and you are happy to buy through Apple or an Authorised Reseller.
  • Choose Samsung Galaxy if you need several price points, rugged XCover models for field staff (see our rugged phones roundup), or Enterprise Edition warranty and replacement terms.
  • Choose Pixel if you want seven years of updates on every model, including the mid-priced Pixel 10a, on a clean version of Android.

A mixed fleet is often the honest answer. Whatever you pick, enrol every phone, record its support end date and plan its replacement before that date arrives.

Frequently asked questions

Is iPhone or Android more secure for a business?

Both can be run securely. What matters more than the brand is that each phone still gets security updates, is enrolled in device management and has a proper passcode policy. Apple publishes a minimum of five years' support per iPhone, Samsung a dated end point per model and Google seven years for every current Pixel, so compare those commitments for the exact models you plan to buy.

Is Apple Business free for UK companies?

Yes. Apple Business, which replaced Apple Business Manager and Apple Business Essentials, has been free in the UK since 14 April 2026 and includes built-in device management. Extra iCloud storage and AppleCare+ for Business are paid add-ons, and Apple Business email is only available to organisations based in the United States. Zero-touch setup needs devices bought through Apple or an Apple Authorised Reseller.

Do we have to pay for Samsung Knox?

Not for the basics. Samsung's Knox Suite Base Plan, which includes Knox Mobile Enrolment and Knox Platform for Enterprise, is included with Galaxy device purchases at no additional cost. The Essentials and Enterprise plans add tools such as Knox Manage and Knox Remote Support and are paid, so ask for current pricing. Enterprise Edition phones come with a one-year renewable Knox Suite licence.

When does Google's seven years of Pixel updates start?

From the month the model first went on sale on the Google Store in the US, not from its UK launch or the day you buy it. That is August 2026 for the Pixel 11 family, March 2026 for the Pixel 10a and August 2025 for the Pixel 10, 10 Pro and 10 Pro XL. A discounted older Pixel therefore has less support left than a newer one.

What extra do you get with a Samsung Enterprise Edition phone?

Samsung's Enterprise Edition adds a three-year warranty, a next-business-day replacement service, up to seven years of firmware updates delivered monthly or quarterly, and a one-year renewable Knox Suite licence. It is offered on selected models, including the Galaxy S26 Ultra, A57 and A37. Check the update period for the exact model, because Samsung's own documents differ on the A57 Enterprise Edition.
