Why Mobile Device Management Matters

What's included
- Enrolment of company phones, tablets and laptops in Microsoft Intune
- Policies for personal devices (BYOD) that manage only work apps and data
- Security requirements such as screen locks, encryption and minimum software versions
- Deployment of work apps and settings, such as email and Wi-Fi
- Remote lock and wipe for lost or stolen devices
- Regular compliance reporting so you can see which devices meet your rules
Not included
- Device hardware and airtime, which can be quoted separately through our business mobile service
- Microsoft licences that include Intune, which are a separate line
- Repairs to damaged devices
How pricing works
Device management is usually priced from two things:
- A management fee per user or per device, or inclusion in a managed IT agreement
- The Microsoft licence that includes Intune, if your current licences don't already
The audit at the start confirms whether your existing Microsoft 365 licences already cover it.
Getting started
- 1
Inventory
We list the devices in use, who owns them and what they are used for.
- 2
Agree the rules
We set different policies for company-owned and personal devices, so staff know what is and isn't managed.
- 3
Pilot
A small group enrols first to check the policies work in practice.
- 4
Roll out
Everyone else enrols, with simple instructions for each type of device.
- 5
Keep it current
Compliance reports highlight devices that fall out of line, and leavers' access is removed as part of offboarding.
Device management questions
Can you wipe a lost or stolen phone?
Yes. A company-owned device can be locked or fully wiped remotely. On a personal device, only the work apps and data are removed.
Will the company be able to see personal data on staff phones?
Not with a personal-device (BYOD) set-up. The business manages the work apps and work data, but personal photos, messages and apps stay out of view.
Does it work with iPhones and Android phones?
Yes. Microsoft Intune manages iPhone and iPad, Android, Windows and Mac devices from one place.
Do we need extra Microsoft licences?
Intune is included in some Microsoft 365 plans, such as Business Premium, and is available as an add-on to others. We check what you already have before recommending anything.
Does device management help with Cyber Essentials?
Cyber Essentials, the UK government-backed scheme, includes requirements on secure configuration and keeping software up to date. Device management is one of the practical ways to meet and evidence them across every device.
What happens when someone leaves the business?
Their work access is removed and their managed apps and data are wiped from their devices, while a personal phone keeps the owner's own data.
