What a business mobile contract gives you that a personal one doesn't
A business mobile contract is more than a phone bill with your company name on it. Because the agreement sits with the business, the VAT on every line is reclaimable, and every connection appears on a single itemised bill instead of a drawer full of personal expense claims.
- Reclaim the VAT on line rental, data and handsets
- Pool and share data across every connection on the account
- One itemised bill for the whole business, split by user or cost centre
- Business-grade support queues and a dedicated account contact
- Add or remove connections mid-term as headcount changes
- Lock, locate or wipe a lost device remotely with mobile device management
Business SIM only deals vs handset contracts
Every business mobile quote comes down to one early decision, and the rule of thumb is simple: go SIM only if your team already has devices or your business rotates hardware on its own cycle; choose a handset contract if cash flow matters more than total cost over the term.
Business SIM only
The lowest monthly cost and the most flexibility — often 30-day or 12-month terms. Ideal when the fleet already has handsets, or when you buy devices outright and want tariffs that can flex with headcount.
Handsets & SIMs
New devices funded through the contract, including business contract phones with no upfront cost — the handset subsidy is built into the monthly price, protecting cash flow when you're equipping a team.
EE vs O2 vs Vodafone vs Three for business
We're independent, so this comparison is honest — each network genuinely is the right answer for a different kind of business. Coverage varies street by street, so we always check your actual postcodes (Ofcom's coverage checker is the neutral source) before recommending a network.
| Network | Coverage | Data pooling | Roaming | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| EE | Regularly among the fastest UK 4G/5G networks in independent testing | Shared data plans across business accounts | Strong EU and worldwide roaming add-ons | Best all-round speed and rural coverage |
| O2 | 99% UK population coverage; strong indoor signal | Flexible pooled data on business tariffs | EU roaming included on many business plans | Best value for EU-travelling teams |
| Vodafone | Extensive UK coverage with strong business network priority | Data pooling and per-user spend caps | Broadest global roaming footprint | Best for international business travel |
| Three | The UK's largest 5G spectrum holding; improving fast | Unlimited-data business plans at aggressive prices | Go Roam included on most plans | Best price per gigabyte for data-heavy teams |

How business mobile phone plans are actually priced
Business tariffs are built per connection, then shaped by three levers: how much data the account needs (pooled or per user), how many connections you commit to, and the contract length. More connections and longer terms buy a lower per-line price; shorter terms buy flexibility.
One thing worth knowing before you compare anywhere: business mobile prices are quoted excluding VAT. Consumer comparison sites show prices including VAT, so a like-for-like comparison needs 20% added to any business price. Every quote we prepare states this plainly.
Business mobile devices for field staff
Field teams break phones — vans, sites and weather see to that. For engineers, construction crews and delivery drivers, a ruggedised handset with an IP-rated case and replaceable battery usually costs less over the contract than repeatedly replacing consumer phones, and it keeps staff reachable on the jobs that pay the bills.
The details that matter for a mobile workforce: enough data for navigation, job sheets and photo uploads from site; coverage checked against the rural and indoor locations where your teams actually work, not just the office postcode; and mobile device management so a phone lost on a job can be locked and wiped in minutes rather than becoming a data breach. We build all three into field-staff quotes as standard.

Company mobile phone contracts & multi-line accounts
From five lines to five hundred, a company mobile account consolidates every connection into one agreement: a single bill split by cost centre, per-user spend caps so nobody's roaming surprise lands on the company card, and the ability to add connections as the business grows without renegotiating from scratch.
A growing business's mobile account should be reviewed annually — headcount changes, data usage drifts, and the networks' pricing moves. We do that review as part of the service, not as an upsell call.
Switching provider without losing your number
The number your customers call moves with you — that's the point of porting. You request a PAC code from your current provider (free, and they must give it to you), pass it to the new provider, and the number transfers, usually within one working day, with no downtime on incoming calls. A PAC code stays valid for 30 days. The old contract ends at transfer — though any early termination charge on the remaining term still applies, which is exactly the kind of thing we check before recommending you move.
The contract terms nobody tells you about
There is usually no cooling-off period. The 14-day right to cancel under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 protects consumers, not businesses. Most business mobile contracts carry no statutory cancellation window — only whatever the provider offers contractually, which varies. Sole traders can sometimes fall within consumer protections depending on how the contract was formed; ask before you sign.
Contracts run longer than consumer deals. 24 months is standard and 36 is common where handsets are funded through the contract. The longer term buys a lower monthly price and more device subsidy — at the cost of flexibility if headcount changes.
Early termination charges can be substantial. They're typically the remaining line rental (sometimes discounted) plus any unrecovered handset subsidy — multiplied across every connection on the account.
Check the mid-contract price rise clause. Ofcom rules introduced in 2025 require price rises to be stated in pounds and pence at the point of sale rather than tied to inflation — though how they apply can differ for business contracts. Whatever the tariff, know the number before you sign — we put it in every quote.
We'd rather tell you this before you sign than have you find out at cancellation. It's why businesses stay with us.
