AI and Copilot questions
Does everyone need a Copilot licence?
No. Many businesses start with the people who would benefit most, measure the results, then decide whether to extend it.
Is our business data used to train the AI?
Microsoft states that prompts, responses and organisational data accessed through Microsoft 365 Copilot aren't used to train its foundation models. Copilot respects your existing permissions, which is why we review them first.
What is oversharing and why does it matter for Copilot?
Oversharing is when files are open to more people than intended, for example 'anyone in the organisation' links. Copilot can surface anything a user already has access to, so tightening those permissions before rollout avoids awkward surprises.
How does AI use fit with UK GDPR?
The usual data protection principles apply: know what personal data goes into AI tools, keep it to what is necessary, and record your decisions. An acceptable-use policy gives staff clear rules about what they can and can't put into AI tools.
