How pricing works
A managed IT service is a fixed monthly fee for keeping your systems running, rather than a bill each time something breaks. The fee is built from a few things you can see in your own business:
- How many people and devices are covered
- Whether you run servers on-site or work entirely in the cloud
- The hours of cover you need
- Whether security tools and Microsoft licences are included or billed separately
- How many sites you have and how much on-site time the plan includes
Your proposal lists what is in the monthly fee and what is charged separately, so you can compare it line by line with any other quote.
Getting started
- 1
Discovery call
We learn how your business works, what is causing problems today and what you need from IT support.
- 2
Audit
We document your devices, accounts, licences, backups and security settings so nothing is supported on guesswork.
- 3
Handover
If you are leaving another provider, we arrange the transfer of admin access, documentation and supplier contacts.
- 4
Monitoring and protection
Monitoring and security agents are rolled out to covered devices, and patching moves onto a schedule.
- 5
Go-live
Your team gets the helpdesk details and a named contact, and support starts.
- 6
First review
After the first weeks we review open issues and agree the improvements to tackle next.
Managed IT questions
What is a managed service provider (MSP)?
A managed service provider looks after a business's IT for a fixed monthly fee: monitoring systems, applying updates, supporting users and managing security, so problems are prevented rather than only fixed after they happen.
Is managed IT the same as outsourced IT support?
They overlap. Outsourced IT support describes who does the work (an external team instead of in-house staff); managed IT describes how it is delivered (a proactive, fixed-fee service). Our outsourced IT support guide covers the in-house versus outsourced decision in more detail.
Can you work alongside our in-house IT person?
Yes. A co-managed arrangement lets your in-house person keep the work they know best while we provide monitoring, patching, security and cover for holidays and busy periods.
Do you need to be on-site to support us?
Most support is delivered remotely across the UK, which is usually the fastest way to fix things. Where a problem needs hands on equipment, on-site work is arranged and the terms for it are set out in your agreement.
What happens to our data and admin access if we leave?
Your data and accounts belong to your business. When an agreement ends, the admin access and documentation should be handed back in an orderly way, and that exit process is something to agree before you sign with any provider.
How is the monthly price worked out?
It depends on the number of users and devices, whether you have servers, the hours of cover and what is included. Our IT support quote page explains how pricing works in more detail and builds a quote from your answers.
